| Joe Baker has always been a writer. He enjoyed writing business articles to help his fellow heavy construction equipment business associates. As word spread about the information contained in these articles, different magazines began to approach him and eventually many of his articles were published. Over his forty-five year career Joe has given speeches and seminars, been an expert witness, turned around multiple failing companies, owned and operated his own construction equipment companies, as well as owning and operating a manufacturers' representative organization. Now retired, he turns to what he calls "fun" writing. Business forms (click on the "Forms" button); consulting (click the "Consulting" button), speeches and seminars (click the "Speaker" button) were other ventures on his long career path. Joe started writing his first book Grandpa Told Me...things your father meant to tell you in the mid-80's after his first grandson was born. Being one of eight sons, Joe knew there were a number of things every boy should know while growing up so that he could become a man anyone would be proud to know. Also, when hiring young male employees, he often noted obvious flaws in their basic common sense. This encouraged him to pass along this "Grandpa" information. While flying home to California from the east coast, Joe began writing that letter. He noticed the man sitting next to him was reading his "Grandpa" notes over his shoulder. When the man asked Joe what he was writing, Joe explained his thinking behind the letter. The man said, "I sure would like a copy of that!" That was the beginning...eventually that 'letter' turned into a full fledged book of not-so-common common sense wisdom that hundreds of friends, relatives and acquaintances wanted to read. Before we knew, it people were asking how to buy a copy and Grandpa was off and running. Since then, Joe has revised and published his Grandpa Told Me...book four times. Each time he adds more pertinent information and words of advice and encourage- ment - now for men 9 to 90! Joe's wife and five grown children make up the "Associates" part of Joe Baker & Associates, Inc. Many of our friends have received the earlier versions of Grandpa Told Me... and their lives were enriched by it.
